The Asian Para Games, also known as Para Asiad, is a multi-sport event held every four years after every Asian Games, featuring PWD athletes across Asia. Both events followed the strategy of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the same city. However, the exclusion of the Asian Para Games from the Asian Games host city contract led to both events running independently of each other. It is the second-largest para multi-sport event after the Paralympic Games. This event is organised by the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) which has its HQs in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The first edition of the Asian Para Games was held in Guangzhou, China in 2010.
Recently, the 4th edition of the Asian Para Games was held in Hangzhou, China from 22 October to 28 October 2023.
Originally these were scheduled to take place from 9 to 15 October 2022 but they were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The new dates were announced in Aug 2022. This is the second time that China hosted the Asian Para Games.
